Kolkata: On her second day at the secretariat on Saturday, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee held a series of meetings to get a first-hand knowledge of the state of affairs in the administration.

Officials said that Banerjee arrived at the Writers` Buildings at 12 noon and immediately got down to business, holding a series of meetings with the departments she holds primarily to get acclimatized with the state of affairs there.

Banerjee asked the waiting cameramen not to follow her in her daily work, urging them to allow her to work.

``I have to do a lot of work. What is the use of taking so many pictures of me?`` she asked lensmen while entering her office accompanied by city Mayor Sovan Chatterjee.

The new chief minister is understood to have held a meeting with the chief secretary Samar Ghosh.

Meanwhile, the newly-appointed ministers formally took charge and had meetings with their respective secretaries.

Today being a Saturday, the flurry of activity seen in the corridors of the secretariat was unusual as previously it used to be a holiday.
