LAMPS chief in vigilance net

Rourkela: Manager of a block level cooperative society was arrested by anti-corruption Vigilance wing for allegedly siphoning off loan amount totalling Rs 1.8 lakh from eleven farmers of Badagaon in Sundargarh district.

Vigilance sources said the farmers had complained against Manager of Biringatoli LAMPS society, Deokaran Jayasuriya when they received notice for re-payment of loan which they claimed they had not borrowed from the society.

The Vigilance sleuths yesterday raided the office of Jayasuriya and it was found that the manager had siphoned off a total amount of Rs.1.8 lakhs shown as loan to eleven farmers by utilising their Kishan Credit Card.

Jayasuriya was today produced before the Vigilance court at Sambalpur which remanded him judicial custody after rejecting his bail application.
