(image) New Delhi: Kate-Middleton`s Grace Kelly inspired Alexander McQueen wedding gown not only won laurels from fashion watchers across the globe but also got thumbs up from Indian designers, who hailed her "glamorous yet understated" style.

The royal bride, who wed Prince William in a grand ceremony at Westminister Abbey on Friday, wore a stunning ivory and satin, lacy gown, designed by Sarah Burton from McQueen`s collection.

Middelton`s wedding number was one of the most debated topics by the fashionista`s around the globe and many believed that the dress will bear a resemblance to that of late princess Diana, William`s mother.

But the 29-year-old beauty, who was closely involved in the creation of the gown, opted for a style, which reminded of the dress worn by Hollywood legend Grace Kelly during her marriage to prince Rainer of Monaco in 1956.

Designer Rina Dhaka says that opting for a gown from the late McQueen`s collection was a beautiful gesture from Middleton.

"It is a fantastic choice. By deciding to wear a creation of the late designer Alexander McQueen, she made a wonderful gesture," designer Rina Dhaka told PTI.

The 29-year-old bride looked resplendent in a fitted white, V-neck gown which was made of French Chantilly lace and English Cluny lace throughout the bodice, skirt and underskirt.

"It was the most emotional day of her life and her dress reflected her emotions," added Dhaka.

Middleton wore her brunette locks in cascading curls, and topped the look with an ivory silk tulle veil trimmed with hand-embroidered flowers.

It was held in place by a Cartier `halo` tiara. She wore diamond earrings by Robinson Pelham, a gift from her parents. Her handmade shoes, also McQueen, were composed of ivory duchesse satin and lace.

"She looked every bit royal and beautiful as the late Princes Diana. The gown was fashionable yet understated," said Leena Singh of Ashima-Leena.

Being a bridal wear designer, Singh feels that the most important factor that a bride looks for in her wedding dress is comfort. The gown that Kate wore was simple and she looked very comfortable in it.

"The dress was a personal choice and she looked extremely comfortable in it," says designer Singh.
