Basti: Four persons have been awarded eight years rigorous imprisonment by a local court here in a dowry death case.

Additional Sessions Judge I D Dubey also sentenced three others to three years in prison in the same case.

According to prosecution sources, Fulwa, who was married to Ashok of Raogova village under Lalganj police station, was set ablaze by her husband, father-in-law, mother-in-law and brother-in-law on August 29, 2008, for dowry.

The court sentenced Ashok, his father Mallu, mother Gyanmati and brother Sunil to eight years RI besides imposing a fine of Rs 9,000 on each of them while three others of the village Purnmasi, Puttan and Fida Hussain were given three years imprisonment for throwing the body in the river, the sources said.
