The historic Bali Yatra bearing the maritime glory of ancient Kalingan empire kicked off in Cuttack on Tuesday evening.

The event was inaugurated by Odisha Information & Public Relations Minister Pradeep Amat in the presence of Cuttack Mayor Subash Singh, Cuttack MPBhartruhari Mahtab, Jagatsinghpur MP Rajashree Mallick and Minister Ranendra Pratap Swain.

The nine-day event is one of the most sought-after fairs in the coastal Odisha region.

As the mega event is organised after a gap of two years, a number of measures have been undertaken by the district administration and Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC), Commissionerate Police and other stake holders to make Bali Yatra a grand success.

Excitement is also high among visitors from Cuttack and other parts of the state as Bali Yatra has a lot to offer and provides good business opportunities to artisans, traders and other self-help groups.

Security arrangements at place:

50 platoons of police force to be deployed for traffic and law and order during Bali Yatra.

20 aid posts and 4 support centers.

Special women’s team for the protection of women visitors.

Provision of wheelchairs for senior citizens and divyangs.

Watch towers and CCTV cameras installed for effective surveillance.
