New Delhi: The Congress on Friday hit out at CAG saying it is surprised and distressed at its stand that MPs cannot comment on its report when the document is being examined by a Parliamentary Committee.

Voicing its displeasure over the CAG statement on Wednesday, Congress spokesperson Jayanti Natarajan said there is no rule that prohibits a MP from speaking on a CAG report while it is being considered by the Parliament`s Public Accounts Committee(PAC).

The CAG while responding to Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal`s comments against the Government auditor in connection with its report on the 2G spectrum allocation scam had said "making public comments on the matter which is being considered by a Parliamentary Committee is highly improper and may even amount to contempt of the House."
