Malkangiri: Not Maoists, but the action of security forces from bordering State Chhattisgarh has terrorised the residents of Mahupadar village under Mathili police station here after four persons including a couple were allegedly picked up forcefully by them on the night of May 20.

The reason of such an action has not yet been known. Even the Malkangiri police have no clue about the action.

Earlier the family members had suspected them as Maoists, but later they were confirmed that the group was a part of the forces from Chhattisgarh. "They barged into our home and took my father away when he was asleep without citing any reason", said Anita Darua, daughter of one of the missing persons.

Even though the panic stricken relatives are in touch with the police, the whereabouts of their family members are yet to be traced. However, Malkangiri police has initiated a probe into the matter to establish the exact reason of the tribals’ detention.

“We had no prior information about it. But, later we came to know that it is the operation of Chhattisgarh police. We are in touch with them to establish the reason behind the incident", Malkangiri SDPO Prateek Gita Singh said.
