Bus conductor held for outraging modesty of girl passenger

Keonjhar: The Town Police today arrested the conductor of a private bus on charges of outraging the modesty of a female passenger traveling from Bhubaneswar. The conductor had allegedly attempted to rape the girl after she boarded the bus to Keonjhar on Monday.

According to a complaint filed by the girl, she was the only passenger when the vehicle was stationed at Baramunda bus stand. Taking advantage of the situation, the conductor misbehaved with her and attempted to rape her, her complaint read. She further stated that she was asked to alight from the bus when she raised an alarm.

"When I boarded the bus at Baramunda, there were no passengers and the conductor tried sexually abusing me. I objected and raised an alarm, following which the conductor asked me to return the ticket and get down the bus. He threatened to kill me if I utter a word about the incident. However, soon after a few passengers boarded and the conductor did not say anything till midway when once again he asked me to get down,” the survivor, recalling the ordeal, narrated.

After reaching Keonjhar, the girl along with her parents lodged a complaint at the Keonjhar Town Police Station on Monday.
