Brought back black money for river-linking funding

Mumbai: BJP president Nitin Gadkari today said if black money salted away in foreign bank accounts by Indians was brought back, it could fund development projects like river linking.

"If the USD 22 lakh crore stashed away in the Swiss banks come back, the money can be used for development projects like linking rivers," Gadkari said in a programme here.

He was asked by a member of the audience about the status of the river-linking project initiated by former Prime Minister A B Vajpayee.

Earlier, he reiterated BJP`s demand that the black money must be traced and recovered.
