Bhubaneswar: In a style reminiscent of Bollywood robberies, around 15 armed men looted Rs 30 lakh from a bank van while transferring cash to another branch in Kalahandi on Thursday night.
 
As per reports, the ICICI bank vehicle was intercepted by armed men on NH-201 at Ambapani last night while transferring funds to Umerkote branch. Two armed guards and four bank employees were traveling in the van when the incident took place.
 
The miscreants stepped into the van and forced the occupants to give in. They moved with the vehicle for around 500 m at gunpoint and then looted the cash and fled the spot.
 
Following the incident, Dharmagarh and Nabrangpur SPDO reached the spot and began investigating into the matter. Forensic team and canine squad were pressed into service to gather leads in the incident.
 
Meanwhile, the two bank employees, who were eyewitness to the incident, have been detained in two separate police stations for interrogation yet the robbers are at large.
 
After the sensational robbery incident, police have decided to launch night patrolling in Ambapani area.
