"Governor E S L Narasimhan`s remarks, soon after he was sworn-in for a second term two days ago, indicate that the state is heading for President`s rule as the ruling Congress will face a complete rout in the by-elections," TDP Politburo member Yanamala Ramakrishnudu noted in a statement today.
The Governor`s announcement that he would tour the entire state immediately after the by-elections only established that there was no government in Andhra Pradesh now, he said. "Going by his assertions, there are clear signs that the Governor is seeking to take control of the administration by sidelining the elected government. There is no co-ordination between the Chief Minister and the ministers... the ministers and bureaucrats are not heeding the Chief Minister`s directives. This is proof enough that the administration has come to a standstill in the state," Yanamala pointed out.
"Several Indian Administrative Service officers were caught in different scandals. All the (administrative) systems have collapsed. Andhra Pradesh never faced such a disastrous situation," the former Finance Minister lamented. The TDP leader also lampooned Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy`s claim that corruption would be the main issue in the 2014 elections.
"It is strange that the Chief Minister came out with such a claim. He has so far remained mum on the numerous scandals that rocked the state during the last eight years of Congress rule. No action has been taken on the CAG report that pointed to gross irregularities in allocation of over 88,000 acres of land to private entities and persons. Nothing can be more absurd than Kiran`s talk on corruption," Yanamala lashed out. Would Kiran survive as Chief Minister till 2014 was the big question, in the light of the Governor`s remarks, the TDP leader added.
