Dharmagarh: After two years of hardship, Dialu Nial and Nilambar Dhangda Majhi, two migrant labourers whose palms were chopped off by a middle man and his associates, got justice as Additional District and Sessions Court awarded life imprisonment to eight accused involved in the most heinous crime.

The victims welcomed the judgment. "I am happy on the judgement even though it has been two years since the incident ",Dialu Nial said.

The right hand palm of Dialu Nial (30), and Nilambar Dhangda Majhi (28), who belonged to Kalahandi district, were chopped off by a labour contractor in December, 2013 after they refused to go to the place where the contractors wanted them to take for work.

The contractor had then paid some advance to the labouers and asked them to work in a brick kiln in Andhra Pradesh. However, the contractor instead forcibly tried to take them to Raipur in Chhattisgarh to engage them in another brick kiln. The labourers resisted and all of them, except Niali and Dhangdamajhi, managed to escape when the group had halted at Sinapali in neighbouring Nuapada district.

The middleman and his associates severed the hands in an inebriated condition while they were taking the two labourers to Kalahandi in a bid to recover the paid amount.
