Deoband (UP): Crying foul, ousted Vice Chancellor of Islamic seminary Darul Uloom Deoband, Maulana Ghulam Mohammad Vastanvi, on Sunday said that injustice has been done to him.

“This is injustice and a conspiracy against me,” Mr. Vastanvi told PTI after being removed from the post of the VC by the seminary’s Majlis-e-Shoora (management body).

The ousted VC alleged that the report presented in the meeting of Shoora was incomplete and he was removed from the post for opposing it.

The Maulana had triggered a controversy soon after his appointment as VC in January for praising Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s rule and his development policy.

“It is totally a wrong decision and a conspiracy against me,” Mr. Vastanvi alleged.

He said that while detailed description of allegations against him had been mentioned in the report, it was mum on the issue of uproar by the students after his appointment and people responsible for that.

Mr. Vastanvi (60) said he had asked the Shoora to get the report completed, but it refused to do so.

The outgoing vice-chancellor said though injustice has been done to him, he will neither move court nor protest against the decision. Mr. Vastanvi said he will continue to a member of the Shoora.

However, Mr. Vastanvi admitted that in the emergent meeting of Shoora, held on February 23, he offered to resign from the post after the report of the inquiry committee was submitted irrespective of the facts whether it was in his favour or not.

“My protest is against the injustice done with me through the inquiry report,” he said.

As per the decision taken by the Shoora earlier, Maulana Abdul Qasim Nomani, who was appointed as the acting vice chancellor, will be the new chief of the Islamic seminary.
