Online fraudster arrested by AP crime investigation department

Hyderabad: An inter-state criminal, who allegedly cheated many individuals and organisations through online fraud has been arrested by the Crime Investigation Department (CID) of Andhra Pradesh.

Vaidyanathan Prakash alias Balkrishna Iyer was arrested from Nizampet here on January 24 after which the police seized his laptop and data card used for committing the offence, CID Additional DGP T Krishna Prasad said here on Monday.

Prakash, an engineering graduate from Chennai, confessed that he is habituated to a lavish livelihood and began cheating to earn easy money.

Allegedly, he cheated various organisations and individuals in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Kerala, with forged documents after collecting deposits online, the CID chief said.

Some more accused have to be arrested in connection with the case, the senior police officer said.
