New Delhi: Indian Air Force (IAF) chief Air Chief Marshal (ACM) P V Naik on Wednesday  pitched for regular "politico-military" dialogue saying it is essential for a country like India "which faces a large number of military and non-military threats."

Naik was addressing a seminar on National Security Reforms organised by the Centre for Land Warfare Studies (CLAWS) here.

Delivering his keynote address, Naik said, "An institutionalised politico-military interphase is required...

Integration of Defence Ministry with the Armed Forces is one area where I feel a lot has to be done."

"We have to understand that it is in the best interest of the national security that the service headquarters are truly integrated with the Ministry." he said

Asking for an improved coordination between Armed Forces and the Defence Ministry, the IAF Chief said, "At present there is no political interphase. One very good step that has been taken is that the three service Chiefs have been participating in the meetings of Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS)."

Appreciating the participation of service chiefs` in the CCS meetings, he said, "It is a good step in my opinion.

A lot of our inputs have been taken and acted upon by the government."
