New Delhi: Senior Congress leaders Madhushudhan Mistry and Mohsina Kidwai were on Saturday made central observers for Kerala while Pranab Mukherjee and Digvijay Singh have been entrusted with the task for Assam.

The announcement was made by party General Secretary Janardhan Dwivedi a day after the Congress ousted the LDF from power in Kerala in a keen contest and came to power for the third successive time in Assam.

In Kerala, the names of Oommen Chandy and Ramesh Chennithala are doing the rounds for the post of chief minister while in Assam, incumbent Tarun Gogoi is expected to be made chief minister for the third term after the party`s spectacular performance, party sources said.
