Lucknow: A man accused of duping youths by promising them jobs through a fake website has been arrested in Mahanagar area here, police said today.

Acting on a tip off, STF yesterday arrested one Raj Kapoor from Badshanagar crossing in Mahanagar police station area, a release issued by the STF here said.

Kapoor, along with an accomplice, had made a fake website of 'Sarv UP Gramin Bank, Meerut' through which they promised 26 youths the post of office assistant, taking Rs 4 lakh from each of them.

When the applicants failed to get appointment letters they enquired with the bank office in Meerut and found the website was not official after which they lodged a case in Meerut and Kasganj in this connection, the release said.

Kapoor allegedly admitted to have duping people earlier in the name of getting them jobs in Railways, banks and as engineers, it said.

Three mobile phones, fake stamps of banks and clubs and an ATM card of Bank of India were recovered from his possession, the release added.
