IRCTC’s new service to change train ‘Boarding Station; know details

If your plan has been changed for a particular journey and you need to change the boarding station, you don’t have to get tensed any more as the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), Indian Railways e-ticketing website online, has come up with a new service for the passengers.

Through a tweet, IRCTC recently informed that passengers can now change their destination of boarding train ONLINE. Yes, this service is limited to bookings done online and this facility can’t be availed if tickets have been booked from counter.

Boarding station can be changed online before 24 hours of the scheduled departure of the train. Once boarding station changed, one will lose all the rights to board the train from the original boarding point.

NOTE: As per IRCTC, the boarding point change facility is allowed only once.

PNRs with VIKALP option can also change the boarding point. However, it is not allowed for I-Ticket and current booking ticket.

How to change boarding station online on IRCTC website:

1. Log in IRCTC website with your login ID and password
2. Click 'Booking Ticket History'
3. Select your train and click 'Change Boarding Point' ('Change Boarding Point' page will appear on a new page)
4. Select new boarding station from the drop down under change boarding station section
