Daniel Ahnen was part of a 73-member team which had left Joshimath for trekking on Arbatatal route, said officials.
Daniel, however, went missing after he accidentally slipped and fell into a ditch near the base camp of Ghastoli on May 10 as informed by his fellow trekkers on Saturday, said Chief Development Officer of Chamoli, V Shanmugham.
After getting information, the administration launched a search operation with the help of Army and Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), he said, adding that Ahnen was, however, yet to be traced.
There were four foreign nationals--an Italian, a Swiss and two Germans--in the trekking team, he said.
The team was scheduled to return on May 26 but came back earlier following the incident, he added.
