Chandigarh: Farmers' outfits belonging to different states today said that they will hold a nationwide 'Kisan Jagriti Yatra' to demand from the Centre farm debt waiver and implementation of the Swaminathan Commission report.

A meeting of farmers' organistaions under the banner of 'Rashtriya Kisan Sangh' was held here to deliberate on the problems of the farmers.

Representatives of farmers' outfits from states like Gujarat, Punjab, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Kerala took part in the meeting, said Bhartiya Kisan Union (Kadian) President Harmeet Singh Kadian.

"We today resolved that a nationwide 'Kisan Jagriti Yatra' will start from November 24 from Kurukshetra in Haryana which will culminate in Delhi on February 23 next year," he said.

"We will block roads in Delhi if our demands are not met," Kadian said.

"We will be pressing for complete farm debt waiver and implementation of the Swaminathan Commission report which suggested 50 per cent profit over cost of input," he said.

Kadian said BKU (Kadian) will submit memorandums in all the districts of Punjab on September 25, seeking compensation for the disposal of stubble burning.
