Koraput: One more tribal was killed by Maoists in Koraput district suspecting him to be a police informer, a day after the ultras committed a similar murder, police said on Sunday.

The victim, identified as Suka Nachika (25) of Upara Renga village in naxal-infested Narayanpatna area, about 30 km from here, had been abducted by a group of armed rebels late last night, they said.

Nachika`s body was found near the village early this morning in a pool of blood with his throat slit, Koraput SP Anup Sahoo said.

The rebels perhaps suspected the victim to be operating as an informer of police, he said, adding despite their claims about fighting for the cause of tribals, the ultras now appear to be targeting the tribals.

The killing took place a day after the Maoists abducted a tribal Dali Habika and threw his body after slitting his throat at Pilibadi village in Narayanpatna area.

In the wake of the two killings, security has been tightened in the area following the incident and a massive combing operation has been launched to trace the Maoists, the SP added.
