New Delhi: A 6.1 magnitude earthquake on the Richter scale hit the northern India today following which tremors were felt across Himachal Pradesh, Delhi and Kashmir triggering panic among the people. However, no loss of life or damage to property was reported.

"Tremors of earthquake were felt for some seconds at 4.11 p.m.," an official at the Meteorological Office told IANS.

He said the epicenter of the earthquake was in the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border region.
