Vidisha: Twenty-five passengers were injured, six of them seriously, when the Mumbai-Pratapgarh Udyognagri Express derailed near here early today, disrupting rail traffic in the sector.

The Pratapgarh-bound train derailed around 6.20 AM near Sourai, six kms from here, District Collector (Vidisha) C B Singh told PTI.

While three bogies of the train overturned, four others jumped off the track disrupting rail traffic on both up and down lines between Bhopal and New Delhi, he said.

Some of the derailed bogies slided down as the railway track was at a height at the site of the accident, railway officials said.

Six seriously injured persons were referred to Bhopal`s Hamidia Hospital for treatment while the remaining were admitted in the Vidisha District Hospital, the Collector said.

Rescue operations are on at the spot and railway officials are trying to ascertain the cause of the accident.
