Two days India wrapped up a second victory over the Aussies. The media rather predictably went gaga. I hate to be a party pooper, but the fact of the matter is this, beating this Aussie Side, at home is no challenge whatsoever.

Scoring heavily against spinners of the likes of Nathan Lyon and Glenn Maxwell is like shooting fish in a barrel. Facing the likes of Steyn and Philander on a seaming green top is like tickling Godzilla with your shoelaces tied together. And as much as I hate to say this, I don’t think there is an Indian team in history that has consummately looked so hapless and lost so many test matches abroad on the go in the past 80 odd years that we have played international cricket, as the Indian team has over the past year. And the icing on the cake was off course getting creamed by England’s spinners at home.

Don’t get me wrong, I am as much of an Indian cricket supporter as anyone else, but the fact is that since the World Cup, it has been a downward spiral. The last two odd years have been a nightmare for an Indian cricket fan. For someone who has supported Indian cricket through all the lows of the 90s and then the highs of the first decade or so of this century, I think I have the right to an opinion and I am about to voice it.
