BJP national general secretary Dharmendra Pradhan is confident of getting clear majority in the ongoing elections. Have a discussion with him about party’s political plan for the State .

Q, Recently, some opinion polls have indicated clear majority of BJP-led NDA. As per the poll, the BJP would get around 272 seats. The party condition in the State is also rose as per the polls. Do you expect more seats than the exit poll figure?

A, I really do not believe the exit poll figure. I do not want to be trapped into that complexity. But one thing is that a wind of Narendra Modi is blowing all over the country. We are sure of gaining 272 seats this time are trying to extract more advantage out of the Modi-wave.

Q, Is the door of the BJP open for a post-poll alliance with BJD? Does your party want an alliance with the regional party?

A, Let’s see, which party is losing seats. There is elections State Assembly and for Lok sabha. The country is fighting election this time dethrone Congress. I wish everybody would stand by Narendra Modi.

Q, There is confusion over Modi being soft on Naveen after February 11 rally. In Sambalpur, Modi uttered only a single line in his 45-minute ling speech against BJD. Why such thing?

A, No, Modi also criticized the BJD that time. As most of the MPs from western Odisha belong to Congress party, our focus was to target Congress. The Congress is main opponents of BJP there. So, Modi attacked Congress party more in the western region. That does not mean that BJP has softness towards any other party.

Q, There is confusion over BJP and BJD when State leaders were opposing to support BJD-backed Rajya Sabha candidate Rghunath Mohapatra and you were supporting him. Ultimately BJP also supported Mohapatra. Why this confusion over BJD?

A, My party is based on discipline. I personally wanted a prominent anti- Congress person and complete independent person to go to the upper House. But the decision of backing him was taken by the party’s parliamentary committee. So, there is nothing any confusion over it.
