Mumbai: After playing the protagonist in her comeback film 'English Vinglish', actress Sridevi is looking for meaty roles and is not keen on just doing elderly roles which do not appeal her.

In 'English Vinglish', Sridevi played the role of a housewife who joins an English speaking course to regain her confidence after being teased by her husband and family. The film, riding on her shoulders, did quite well at the box office.

"I want to be in the film that I would be proud of and not just for the sake of being there in it. I want to do films that appeal to me," Sridevi told PTI.

Asked if she is open to playing an aunt or a mother, the actress said, "If I really wanted to do that I would have done it long back, then why would I wait?"

Having made a comeback on the silver screen after 15 years, the actress insists that she won't take long time to do another film.

"Definitely it won't be that long to do another Bollywood film. People are approaching and they want to narrate stories to me. I hope something very interesting comes my way," Sridevi said.

Her husband Boney Kapoor being a producer, Sridevi is open to working in his films. "Definitely he will make films for me and I would like to work in them, it goes without saying," she said.

Being a good dancer, would she be open to doing item or special songs and surprise the audience, the veteran actress said, "I wouldn't give my fans such a big surprise by doing an item number (laughs). I don't know why people call some songs 'item numbers'. I would call them special songs and would be open to doing special songs."

Sridevi does not believe in calling 'English Vinglish' her comeback.

"I don't understand why there is so much stress on the word 'comeback'. We don't consider our films as a comeback because we never went anywhere. We were not a part of any film but were very much a part of the industry. The audience would see us making lot of public appearances," she said.

"Usually actors take a break to work on the physical area, body building and all for a project. But that is not the case with actresses," she said.

Her films were always associated with commercial elements like song and dance but she chose a different kind of film to return to Bollywood.

"I loved the simplicity and sensitivity of the character that I played. So never did it cross my mind that I was doing something different. I don't think I need to prove myself again as I believe in my fans and I knew they would like my film," Sridevi added.
