Actress Vidya Balan, who will be doing a special song in `Urumi`, says it is a gift to her parents as they always wanted to see her in a Malayalam film.

Directed by Santosh Sivan, `Urumi` is a historical film, starring Prithviraj, Genelia D`Souza and Prabhu Deva, besides Vidya, Arya, and Tabu in cameo appearances.

"I have done a song and few scenes. I did it because mother and father always wanted me to do a Malayalam film. So it is my gift to them," Vidya told PTI in an interview.

About the song, the actress said, "It is not an item song as I play an oracle. It is not item song in the way we see it...it is just a special appearance song."

The actress has also dubbed for the movie in her own voice. "I was really happy doing dubbing because my mother came to studio for the first time. She studied the scene and complimented me for it. I was thrilled," the 33-year-old actress said.

Vidya will be seen next in Sujoy Gosh`s `Kahaani`, a thriller that releases on June 17.

"I am playing a pregnant woman who comes down from London to Kolkata in search of her husband who has gone missing. So it`s a search story," Vidya said.

The actress received kudos for her power-packed performance in `No One Killed Jessica`.

"I am thrilled and humbled that `No One Killed Jessica` got me the appreciation and it did commercially well. Lot of people used to say that a film with two heroines and no hero will not do well commercially. But the movie has changed that perception."

When asked if she is doing Rajnikant-starrer `Rana`, Vidya refused to comment.
