Nashik: Veteran actor Rajesh Khanna had held the Father of Indian cinema, Dadasaheb Phalke, in high esteem, reminisced city resident Mukesh Kaneri.

Khanna was bestowed upon the Lifetime Achievement award by Rewa International, a city-based film training institute, at Dadasaheb Phalke memorial here in January last.

Recalling his tryst with the soft-spoken actor, Kaneri said the Bollywood superstar did not have any air about his stardom and mingled freely with everyone present at the function. "The award conferred upon me at the birthplace of Phalke is most precious to me," the actor had been quoted as saying by Kaneri.

The award carried a cash prize of Rs one lakh and a golden trophy in shape of a camera. Kaneri recalled that Khanna first visited Nashik for shooting Dulal Guha`s `Dushman` in 1971-72.
