Anthony tried to make Lopez`s fashion choices for her when she took part in a photo shoot last year and is said to have objected to a particular photograph that he found `too sexy and unbecoming for a 40-year-old mother of two`, reported Us magazine online.
"He would make her feel terrible about herself if she wanted to wear something sexy. He likes her to dress in a demure, "wife" style. He hated the fact that she was a sex symbol," a source said.
The couple announced their separation last week after seven years of marriage, insisting it was an amicable decision. Since then it has come out that Anthony`s `controlling` ways lead to the split.
"Marc has always been a very dominating husband. He wanted to control everything Jennifer did. In the beginning she liked that because he stood up to her, and in the early days he was very much in love with her and she was with him," Lopez`s stylist Phillip Bloch said.
The couple, who have three-year-old twins Max and Emme, were also described as having `a very up and down marriage.`
"They would get into heated, horrible fights. Then, they would also go through times where they were extremely loving and romantic. It was a roller coaster with them from the beginning," one source said.
She is said to be throwing herself into her work, with a new Kohl`s clothing line, a romantic comedy, `What To Expect When You`re Expecting` and a rumoured return to American Idol which has seen her experience something of a career resurgence.
