Hashmi has scored success with erotic thriller `Murder 2`, which saw him playing an ex-cop with mixed morals and the actor wants to continue taking up on-the-edge characters.
"My aim is to do more and more films. I don`t like to do traditional stuff. I don`t believe in number games. The road that I walk has no one in front of me and no one behind. I don`t see anyone doing the kind of roles that I do and I will continue with them," said Hashmi.
The 32-year-old actor has made peace with various tags alloted to him, most famous one being that of a "serial kisser".
His stint in `Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai` has opened doors for more meaty roles. He will next be seen opposite Vidya Balan in `Dirty Picture`, a biopic on Southern film siren Silk Smitha. He has completed his work in Dibakar Banerjee`s `Shanghai` and is in talks to star in Vishal Bhardwaj`s `Dayan`.
"Society is somehow involved in our interpersonal relationship. Non-committal relationship is still considered a taboo but now they are being accepted by the audience, which is a reflection of how relationships have become. It has come a long way. Murder 2 is much bold in that sense," says the actor.
He is not part of the sequel of the `Once Upon a Time In Mumbaai` but the actor has no regrets. "It is the maker`s prerogative to choose whoever they want. I have no issues to go off the franchise or enter a new one. I was not part of Raaz but I managed to create a space for myself in the sequel," says Hashmi.
Actors are stepping up as producers and directors but Hashmi says he has no immediate plans to go behind the camera. "I have no such plans at the moment. It is acting and more acting right now. Direction needs a shift. If I decide to direct I will take time off from acting."
He is opposite Abhay Deol in `Shanghai` but Hashmi is not scared of matching up to the Deol, who is known for his acting. "Shanghai is complete. Just one song is left. I have immense respect for Abhay as an actor. He has done different films and made a mark for himself. In that sense he is also a loner like me. He has challenged Bollywood. It is going to be great movie," he adds.
