Don't want to do roles that I have played earlier: Sonali

Mumbai: Actress Sonali Bendre, who is making a comeback on silver screen with 'Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai 2', says, she prioritises her personal life over her professional career.

"I definitely don't want to do roles that I have played earlier. I would like to play my age which I am doing. Also, I have too many conditions so unless it falls into my priorities I don't do it (films). Either my son should have holiday when I am shooting or the shoot has to be in Mumbai," Sonali said in an interview.

"If the role fits into these parameters then I will do it.. its important than the role," she said.

The model-actress married director Goldie Behl in 2002 and gave birth to her son Ranveer in 2005. The 37-year-old was last seen in a Shah Rukh Khan starrer super hit movie 'Kal Ho Na Ho' (2003).

At a time when actors like Aamir Khan, Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan are still going strong in the film industry, the scenario of older or married actress is different in Bollywood compared to Hollywood.

On which, Sonali says, "May be that is the social difference there (Hollywood) its a different kind of society we are moving towards. There are more and more interesting roles and different kind of films and roles are being written."

"May be the progress is not happening fast but its happening. Ten years ago would have anyone imagined a film like 'English Vinglish' but it is now being made. So changes are happening," she said.

Sonali will be seen in the second installment of Milan Luthria's crime drama, a sequel to the 2010 super hit film of the same name, alongwith Akshay Kumar, Sonakshi and Imran Khan in lead roles.

"I am doing the sequel to 'Once Upon A Time in Mumbai'. Its an interesting role. I liked it. It is very early to talk about it as I have not started shooting for it," she said.

Milan Luthria is a nice person I have worked with him earlier. Also, I have close relations with Ekta Kapoor and Shobha aunty, we are family friends. There is a comfort zone with Akshay Kumar as well, she said.

Sonali is also quite excited about her yet another show 'Hindustan Ke Hunarbaaz'. The show will provide kids a platform to showcase their various talents and it will have Sonali and Terrence Lewis as judges.

"Everyone will get to see talent of several kids. The best part is there is no competition on the show. We all want kids to come and enjoy and show their talent. There is no report card, so no marks to children for their performances," she said.

The show is different in the sense that there will be no winner there are no marks or points for any performance. The show will go on air from October on Life Ok channel every Monday to Friday.

Considering that she is a doing a reality show with children ask her how she is as a mother, Sonali says, "I am a strict parent, there has to be discipline. I don't know if I am a better mother or not, its my son who can tell may be after 16 or 17 years whether I was right or wrong."

"Everything is trial and error nobody knows the rule as far as parenting is concerned. I feel good doing this show. There is something pure when you interact with kids? I had fun with kids on the show," she said.
