New Delhi: The Supreme Court, on Tuesday, dismissed the pleas seeking direction to make yoga compulsory in schools for students from classes 1 to 8.

While hearing two PILs filed by Ashwini Kumar Upadhyay, a lawyer, and Delhi BJP spokesperson and advocate JC Seth, a bench headed by Justice Madan B Lokur, the court said it can't decide what is to be taught in schools but the government can take a decision on the issue.

Introducing yoga and making mandatory yoga classes for school students across the country cannot be imposed on anyone, the apex court said.
