Balasore: Two proxy candidates appearing the Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) at the Government ITI Centre in Balasore, were today detained by the police.

The candidates were identified after the exam invigilator spotted mismatch in their signatures when compared with those of the real candidates,informed Chairman of the ITI Krushna Chandra Rout adding that a total of 453 candidates appeared for the exams.“Since it is a case of impersonation, we have informed the police,” added Rout.

While one of the proxy candidates identified as Pankaj Kumar from Bihar was appearing the exam for his friend Prasanth, the other accused identified as Binod Kumar Singh from Shergarh in Balasore was present for Pradipta Mondal.

On being informed, the police reached the spot and began investigation. Industrial Police Officer, Ashok Kumar Mohanty informed that both the accused are being questioned inside the Principal's office. Suitable legal action will be taken against the duo, he said.
