Bhubaneswar/New Delhi: Good news for aspirants awaiting a job in the railway sector as the Southern Railways has released notifications to fill up 1305 vacancies for the post of Act Apprentices (in the stream of Freshers, Ex-ITI & Medical Lab Technician) Under Apprentices Act 1961. Interested and eligible candidates are advised to apply soon.
Details of each of the recruitment cells including educational qualification, age limit, selection process and number of vacancies is given below.
In one of the recruitments, applications are invited in the prescribed format for recruitment at Central Workshop, Ponmalai, Trichy-4, C&W Depot/TPJ, DSL Loco Shed/TPJ and C&W Depot/MDU, Southern Railway in the stream of Freshers and Ex. I.T.I in the designated trades.LAst date to apply for these vacancies is February 21, 2018.
Selection Process: The selection will completely be based on the merit list prepared in respect of all the candidates who apply against the notification.
The merit list will be prepared by committee nominated for the purpose by following the procedure mentioned in the notification.
Age Limit:
Candidates should have completed 15 years of age and should not have completed
20/22/24 years as on the cut-off date for receiving application. Age relaxation for various
categories/communities shall be applicable as per rules as amended from time to time.
How To apply: Applications in the prescribed forms along with attested copies of certificate etc., duly filled in by Candidates, the cover containing the application should be super scribed as “APPLICATION FOR ENGAGEMENT AS ACT APPRENTICE Combined Notice No.1/2017-18 and send by post to THE WORKSHOP PERSONNEL OFFICER, PERSONNEL BRANCH, CENTRAL WORKSHOP, PONMALAI, TRICHIRAPPALLI – 620 004.
Note: Applications should reach this office on or before February 21, 2018 by 5pm.
Candidates should possess the Academic / Technical Qualification required for the
relevant trade at the time of submitting their application. The applications of the candidates
who are course completed but results awaited/Certificates awaited at the time of application
will be rejected.
The qualification (Academic/Technical) possessed by the candidates at the time of
submitting their applications will only be taken into consideration. For Ex-ITI candidates
I.T.I. in designated trade under Apprentices Act 1961 will alone be considered.

In another Southern Railway Recruitment, applications have been invited for 737 Apprentice posts. Interested candidates should apply for these vacancies on or before February 23, 2018.
Details of the recruitment in given below.
Educational Qualification:
1. Fitter, Painter & Welder : Should have passed 10th Class under 10, +2 System of education or its equivalent.
2. Electrician : Should have passed 10th Class under 10, +2 System of education with Science as one of the subjects or its equivalent
3. Refrigeration and Air conditioning Mechanic: Should have passed 10th Class under 10, +2 System
of education with Science (Physics and Chemistry) and Mathematics or its equivalent
4. Medical Laboratory Technician ( Radiology, Pathology, Cardiology): Should have passed 12th Class under 10, +2 system of education with Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
Number of Vacancies: 737
Application Fee & other details:
a) Applications should be in the prescribed printed form only which can be downloaded from the website www.sr.indian railways.gov.in
b) A crossed Indian Postal order for Rs.100/- ( Rupees Hundred only) drawn not earlier than the date of issue of this notification (Not Refundable) drawn in favour of the WORKSHOP PERSONNEL OFFICER, CARRIAGE AND WAGON WORKS, SOUTHERN RAILWAY, PERAMBUR, CHENNAI - 600 023 and payable at CHENNAI should be enclosed along with filled in application towards Processing Fee. Applications with out the processing fee, will be summarily rejected.
b) SC/ST/PWD/Women Candidates are exempted from the payment of Processing Fee.
c) Candidates should submit only one application irrespective of the number of trades/units applied for.
d) Candidates shall apply only one category of Fresher category, Ex.ITI or MLT.
