Bhubaneswar/New Delhi: In a good news for students across the country, the online application procedure for the India Post Office Recruitment 2017 has finally begun for recruitment of candidates for 6507 Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) posts in the Kerala and Uttar Pradesh postal circles on the official website of India Post. Interested and eligible candidates should apply before November 29, 2017 on appost.in.

Vacancy details:

Kerala postal circle- 1193 vacancies

Uttar Pradesh postal circle- 5314 vacancies

How to apply:

Candidates who desire to apply online will have to register in the portal through indiapost.gov.in or appost.in with the basic details to obtain the Registration Number.

  • Go to the official website - http://www.appost.in
  • Click on ‘Registration’ link
  • Enter required details and register yourself to get registration number
  • Click on ‘Apply Online’
  • Enter registration number and the asked details
  • Upload scanned copies of photograph, signature and other documents
  • Submit application
  • Download the confirmation page and get a print out for further reference
  • Pay the application fee offline at head offices listed in the notification

Application Fee:

General and OBC category male candidates have to pay an application fee of Rs 100, while female and SC/ST/PH category candidates are exempted from paying the application fee.

Eligibility Criteria:

Candidates applying for the post of Gramin Dak Sevaks should have passed class 10th or its equivalent examination from a recognized institution in the country. Also, the candidate should have basic computer knowledge, which is relaxable in cases where a candidate has studied computer as a subject in Class X or Class XII or higher educational qualification provided he/she submits a certificate in which he/she has studied computer as a subject.

Age Limit:

The postal circles have set a minimum and maximum age limit for recruitment of candidates into Gramin Dak Sevaks posts. An applicant’s age should be between 18 and 40 years as on October 30, 2017. However, the upper age limit is relaxed by three years for those belonging to OBC categories and five years in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST, while it is 10 years for PH above the respective category.

Selection Procedure:

The selection of candidates for the post of Gramin Dak Sevak will absolutely be done on the basis of a Merit List based on Class X scores of all applicants.
