Woman gives birth in locked room, dies on way to hospital in Mayurbhanj
Baripada: In an unfortunate turnout of events due to family feud, a woman died soon after she was rescued from a locked room following her delivery at Manida village under Bangiriposi police limits, police said on Saturday.
According to reports, the woman identified as Mita Sethi delivered a girl child after reportedly locking herself in a room inside her house last night.
Sources said deceased Mita, wife of Rajesh Kumar Sethi of the village was having some differences with him and used to sleep separately in another room along with her two children.
Mita, who was sleeping along with her children by locking the room from inside, developed labour pain and later gave birth to a girl child yesterday, added sources.
Rajesh informed Mita’s parents after she did not open the door for long. Later, Mita’s parents and some locals rescued her along with the newborn by breaking the door and rushed them to Bangiriposi hospital. However, Mita was declared brought dead by the doctors.
Meanwhile, the health condition of the newborn infant is stated to be critical.
On receiving information, Bangiriposi police detained deceased Mita’s husband Rajesh and are interrogating him.
