Servitor in cuffs for sexual harassment at Puri Srimandir

Puri: The Singhadwar police here on Sunday arrested a servitor on charges of sexually harassing a girl inside the Puri Srimandir. The accused identified as Santosh Kara, a Ballabha servitor of the shrine, was later produced before the Puri SDJM Court.

As per the complaint, the accused touched the girl inappropriately near the Natya Mandap at around 2 pm yesterday. The girl, a resident of Berhampur in Ganjam district, had come to the temple with her mother.

"Acting on the complaint lodged by the girl, we arrested the accused and later forwarded him to court, said Singhadwar police station Inspector In-Charge (IIC) Gokula Chandra Das.

A case under 341, 354 A of the IPC has been registered against the accused, he added.
