Robber tricks man; drops Rs 500 & loots Rs 3.55 lakh in Sambalpur

Sambalpur: A few days after unidentified miscreants robbed a man of Rs 3.3 lakh inside the Union Bank in front of Puri Town Police station, another such bizarre crime was reported from Ainthapalli in Sambalpur district where a man was distracted by a robber and looted of over Rs 3.5 lakh on Thursday in a similar fashion.

As per a complaint lodged with the Ainthapalli police, the incident occurred after one Siba Prasad Hota withdrew money from a Bank in Budharaja area.

Hota was returning from the bank when the robber allegedly played a trick and distracted his mind by dropping a Rs 500 note on the road, the complaint added.

The robber then intercepted Hota saying that a Rs 500 note has fallen on the road. By the time Hota went to pick the note from the ground, the robber fled the spot with the money bag hanging in his bicycle.

The complainant further stated that the bag contained Rs 3.55 lakh which he had withdrawn from the bank.

Meanwhile, based on the complaint, Ainthapalli police has initiated an investigation into the incident while the CCTV camera footage installed in the bank is also being examined, sources said.
