Sources said, a bus named Jagabandhu which commutes between Bargarh and Bhubaneswar lost control near Naksapalli on Angul-Sambalpur national highway and toppled.

All the injured have been admitted to local hospital.

Meanwhile, in another incident the helper of a stationary bus was critically injured after its roof caught fire late on Saturday night in Bhadrak.

The bus, Sarathi, which runs between Bhadrak and Karanjia caught fire while the helper was alone inside the bus. Although he managed to escape from the flames he was seriously injured during the incident. Later, a fire brigade was pressed into service which doused the flames.

“I don’t know how the bus caught fire but someone must have set it on fire intentionally. The bus halts at night and leaves for Karanjia early in the morning. We had lodged luggage above the roof which has been completely destroyed in the fire,” the bus driver said.
