Minor girl gang raped on May 2 commits suicide

Sambalpur: A minor girl who was gang raped on May 2 allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself in her house under Sasana police limits in Sambalpur district today.

As per sources, the girl was alone in her house and her family had gone out somewhere when she allegedly hanged herself from the ceiling fan.

After reaching home, the family members found her hanging body and informed police about the incident who immediately rushed to the spot and recovered her body.

The girl was reportedly raped by six persons on May 2 and all the accused were arrested and later lodged in the jail.

"The body has been sent for post mortem while further investigation is on. The six accused have already been arrested and lodged in jail," said a police official.

Meanwhile, her family members claimed that she was forced to take the extreme step as she was unable to bear the shame and embarrassment.
