Sundergarh: Close on the heels of dowry death case in Khurda, another woman was allegedly beaten to death by her husband at Dulinga village under Hemgir police limits in Sundergarh district on Saturday evening.

The matter came to the fore after the family members of the deceased woman, Liza Bhoi lodged a complaint at the police station.

Basing on the complaint, police today detained Sushant Bhoi, Liza's husband and is interrogating him in connection with the incident.

According to the complaint, Liza had tied nuptial knot with Sushant some four years back. After few days of the marriage, Sushant allegedly started torturing Liza and pressurised her to get more dowry from parents.

However, the situation worsened on Saturday after Sushant thrashed Liza following which she fell unconscious.

Though Sushant rushed Liza to Hemgir Community Health Centre (CHC), she was declared brought dead by the doctors.

Following the incident, a police complaint was lodged by the parents of Liza against her husband.

On July 12, a woman identified as Chandrakanti was allegedly set on fire by her husband and in-laws over dowry in Khurda.
