Berhampur: A 75-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death by his son over property dispute at Samarjhol village under Hinjilicut police limits of Ganjam district today. The accused identified as A Dibakar has been arrested by police.

According to sources, Dibakar who works in a steel company at Nagpur in Maharashtra had come to his village to resolve a property dispute.

Today morning, during a discussion with his father, A Krishna Rao, Dibakar lost his temper and violently attacked him with an iron rod.

As per eyewitnesses, Dibakar continued to attack his father even as his two elder brothers tried to stop him.

The old man who sustained severe injuries on his hand and body died on the spot, informed sources.

Later, Dibakar was nabbed while trying to escape and handed over to the police by his brothers.

Hinjilicut police have sent the body to MKCG Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem. Investigation into the incident is on, informed a police official.
