Cuttack: Chauliaganj police on Friday arrested two more accused on the charges issuing threats to several key witnesses in sensational Dipu alias Manoj Mallick murder case which earlier led to the arrest of gangster brothers--Sushil and Sushant Dhalasamant.

The accused have been identified as Samir Das and Rajesh Barik. Senior police officials informed that seven persons have been arrested for terrorising father and brother of deceased Dipu Mallick so far.

It is pertinent to mention that earlier five accused had allegedly threatened deceased Dipu's father Adweita Mallick, a key witness in his son's murder case. Basing on the complaint filed by Adweita, police had arrested five accused on July 2.

The five accused Madan Mohan Sahoo alias Madan, Alok Prusty, Santosh Behera, Balaram Barik and Sashikant Khandei alias Dani were arrested for terrorising the witness and trying to restrain them from deposing in a court, said a senior police official.

Police said the gangster brothers-Sushil and Sushant Dhalasamant have been charged with the murder of Dipu Mallick, who had gone missing in 2013.

Dipu was earlier working for the gangster brothers. Commissionerate police had reopened the case following a court's direction while the gangster brothers were arrested on January 28, 2016.
