Cops foil dacoity bid, 2 criminals nabbed in Cuttack

Cuttack: Commissionerate police arrested two associates of criminal Nihar Das, who is presently cooling his heels in Choudwar circle jail in connection with a murder case.

The accused have been identified as Umesh Behera (36) of Jagatsinghpur and Rajesh Sethi (40) of Cuttack and a country made gun, four live crude bombs and other sharp weapons have been seized from their possession.

According to reports, nearly four to five miscreants had earlier assembled near Nemeisapur canal embankment and were planning to commit a dacoity at Nahabhanga petrol pump yesterday.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of Kandarpur police raided the spot and managed to nab Umesh and Rajesh while others criminals managed to escape from the spot.

Senior officials of Commissionerate Police informed that the criminal gang had assembled at the spot to commit the dacoity and terrorize few witnesses of the murder case in which Nihar Das was arrested.
