Baripada: A person who allegedly duped Lakhs of rupees in the name of providing employment and loan was nabbed from Jamshedpur in Jharkhand and handed over to Baripada police today.

According to reports, the accused, Sanjib Kumar Chowdhury opened a non-banking organisation named ‘Ujjwal Odisha’ where he duped around 30 people in the pretext of providing jobs and loan by taking land records and Rs 10,000 as agreement deposit.

“Sanjib offered me loan for which I deposited the required agreement amount. I was given a cheque of Rs 50,000 but when I went to bank for withdrawal the cheque bounced,” said duped Sumani Sahu.

Sources said the accused disappeared with the deposits from various people after three months of setting up the company.

“The company could not get registered in Baripada over my credentials. I was unaware of the situation here and was at home under medication due to ill health,” said accused, Sanjib Kumar Chowdhury.
