3 PEOs arrested over corruption charges in Balasore

Balasore: The Vigilance team arrested three Panchayat Executive Officers (PEO) of Balasore district on Thursday on charges of corruption.

The three PEOs include a Gram Panchayat Technical Assistant (GPTA) of Antara panchayat under Simulia Block named Dilip Kumar Das, PEO Muralidhara Sen and PEO of Aruhabado panchayat under Bahanaga block, Mangala Singh.

According to reports, the three PEOs were arrested on charges of irregularities in fund, provided by government for construction of houses  under Indira Awas Yojana. They have been forwarded to court.

According to sources, the three are alleged to have committed a fraud of Rs 2.05 lakh allotted to them for developmental works under Indira Awas Yojana.

The accused were presented before a special vigilance trial court where there bail plea was rejected and they have been sent to prison for 14 days.

Meanwhile, District Collector, Pramod Das has suspended all the accused on the basis of corruption charges against them.
