Bhubaneswar: Lanjigarh-based Sesa Sterlite Limited (SSL), an associate company of Vedanta Resources, has won this year's 'Best Corporate' award.
Company's Finance head Jalaj Malpani and HR head Kostav Kundu received the award from Union minister Jual Oram at a ceremony organized by Odia Televiewers here recently. Former CMD of Nalco S.K. Tamotia, Padma Bibhusan Raghunath Mahapatra, Justice M.M. Papana were present at the function.
The alumunium major was awarded for its excellent contribution to the society in the field of health, education and livelihood generation in the backward districts of Kalahandi and Rayagada under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
Meanwhile, the company was also awarded for its excellence in corporate communication and public relations.
As part of its CSR programmes, the company is engaged in supporting various government and non-government schools by providing mid-day meal to nearly 15,000 students every day and setting up DAV Vedanta International School. Its Vedanta hospital is also providing free medical treatment and medicines to more than 200 patients daily.
