Mumbai: The Indian rupee appreciated by 6 paise to Rs 44.46 per dollar in early trade on the Interbank Foreign Exchange today amid dollar weakness against other currencies overseas.

The rupee had gained 18 paise to close at 44.52/53 against the US currency in yesterday`s trade.
