Bhubaneswar: National Aluminium Company (NALCO), the Navratna public sector undertaking (PSU) under Mines ministry, has won the eastern region gold trophy of Engineering Export Promotion Council (EEPC).

Company’s DGM (Marketing) S. Samantaray received the award from former President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam at EEPC Regional Award Ceremony for Export Excellence 2012-2013 held at Kolkata yesterday.

The aluminium behemoth bagged the prestigious award for its outstanding export performance during 2012-13 in the large enterprise category. The Odisha-based Central PSU had clocked sales turnover of Rs 7,247 crore, including Rs 3,410 crore export earnings, during the fiscal.

Due to high quality products, Nalco enjoys Premier Trading House status and it is the first Indian aluminium company to be registered with London Metal Exchange, a release of the company said.
