Bengaluru: Mercedes Benz Research and Development India (MBRDI) on Monday inaugurated its third facility here, to confirm its R&D and IT expansion commitment in India and aim at digital transformation.

"The digital transformation of our company is in full swing and is affecting our entire value chain. Our India centre through its talented workforce provides the necessary gilt edge raising the digital quotient of the company," said MBRDI chairman Thomas Merker in a statement.

Spread over 1,19,227 square feet with a capacity to seat 900 employees, the new facility is located at Whitefield in Gopalan Global Axis, adjacent to MBRDI headquarters.

MBRDI satellite office at Pune has also expanded its capacity by 23,318 square feet to add 203 more seats.

MBRDI MD and CEO Manu Saale said they are focused on becoming on becoming a centre of excellence within Daimler for engineering and IT with MBRDI already completing 19 years.

"We have graduated higher up the value chain and contributing significantly in some niche areas of digital product development," said Saale in the statement.

Founded in 1996, MBRDI with 3,000 engineers focuses on computer-aided design and simulation for powertrains, chassis, exteriors, embedded systems, telematics development and also developing IT applications and tools.
